Interim Director of the Health Protection Surveillance Centre

Dr Greg Martin has been appointed as Interim Consultant in Public Health Medicine – National Health Protection Surveillance Lead and will be responsible for leading and operationally managing the National Health Protection Surveillance Centre.

A  Specialist in Public Health Medicine  and former Clinical Lead for Contact Tracing in Ireland, he is also the Editor-in-Chief of Globalization.

The HSE said that as part of the Public Health Reform Programme, a new service delivery model for Public Health was being implemented alongside the establishment of Consultant in Public Health Medicine leadership posts on a phased basis.  Prior to Dr Martin’s appointment, Dr John Cuddihy was Interim Director of the Health Protection Surveillance Centre. Dr Cuddihy was recently successfully appointed as one of the first Public Health Consultant roles as Area Director of Public Health for Public Health Area C (South East /CHO 7).

Dr Augustine Pereira has taken over as the clinical lead for the Contact Management Programme.
