SVUH Appoints First Physician Associates

David Morrissey and Nicole Coffey have taken up appointments as the first Physician Associates at St. Vincent’s University Hospital.

David has joined the Medical Oncology department and Nicole the  Breast Cancer Care Department.

Professor Michaela Higgins said, “We are thrilled to extend a warm welcome to David and Nicole, our newest colleagues. David’s role stems from our strategic initiative to expand our team with a skilled Physician Associate, and following a positive experience, the decision was made to support this position. David emerged as the successful candidate from a competitive field. Currently, he is actively engaged in our inpatient service, acquainting himself with the nuances of systemic anti-cancer treatments and the intricacies of managing associated complications. Our vision for David includes him becoming an invaluable asset to our ambulatory cancer day services, playing a pivotal role in the triage and care of oncology patients at St. Anne’s day ward. Concurrently, Nicole is making significant contributions to Breast Cancer Care, reinforcing our commitment to comprehensive patient support. We anticipate that David and Nicole will set a precedent, paving the way for many more accomplished Physician Associates to join and contribute to our esteemed service.”

David is focusing on systemic anti-cancer treatments and complication management in the inpatient service, and Nicole is playing a crucial role in comprehensive patient support in Breast Cancer Care.
