Anne Quirke, of Beaumont Hospital Dublin won the Chief Technical Officer (CTO) of the Year at the Women in IT Summit Ireland 2021.

The Awards were to mark “outstanding talent in the industry, as well as the employers that are implementing diversity initiative to spearhead real change in the sector and identify new role models to inspire more diverse talents into careers in tech.”

Anne Quirke’s citation as Chief Technical Officer of the Year read, “This Award goes to an individual that demonstrated how she put technology at the heart of the business during the most challenging of times – through a global pandemic and through increased criminal cyber-attacks. Her submission not only showed how they addressed and innovated to deal with the crisis but also how they used the crisis as an opportunity to extend and develop the role of technology in the business. Judges admired her solution-minded approach, along with her leadership. She demonstrated grit, resilience, tactical astuteness and strategic vision. A quote the stood out was, ‘Technology was the reason our world was thrown into chaos, but technology has also been the answer.’ And she most certainly found the answer with the support and efforts of her team.”
