Orla Crowe

Orla Crowe has been appointed Director of Fitness to Practise with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).

Orla is a solicitor with over 11 years of professional experience. She previously worked in the Health and Social Care Department in the legal firm, Byrne Wallace, where she specialised in child protection matters. Prior to that, she worked as a criminal defence solicitor and as a human rights lawyer in Kosovo and Malawi.  

Speaking about her appointment, Orla said, “I look forward to leading the Fitness to Practice Department as we work to protect the integrity of the professions. We will continuously strive to enhance the process for everyone involved.” 

She has a BCL (Bachelor’s of Civil Law) Hons, Law & German, University of Galway, a Postgraduate certificate, Defending Human Rights, University of York, a Higher Diploma in Law and Education, The Honorable Society of King’s Inn and a Higher Diploma in Juvenile Justice, The Honorable Society of King’s Inn.
