Dr Tony Holohan, former Chief Medical Officer at the Department of Health, has started a new position as Adjunct Full Professor at University College Dublin.
Dr Holohan resigned from his job as Chief Medical Officer at the Department of Health on July 1, following 14 years in the role. During this time, he worked with seven Ministers.
Dr Holohan’s five year appointment at UCD is an honorary pro bono position.
Prof. Cecily Kelleher, Principal of the UCD College of Health and Agricultural Sciences, said she was delighted that a person of the calibre and standing of Dr Holohan had taken the appointment. She believed the collaborations he would forge would impact positively on future public health policy
