The Minister of State for Disabilities, Finian McGrath T.D., today opened the Praxis Care Day Service in Clongriffin, North Dublin. The Service will help people with special needs to transition from school to adult day services.
Minister McGrath said that the Day Service will play a vital role for service users and parents as they face the challenge of adapting to different life choices and growing independence.
“I commend Praxis Care who work tirelessly to support adults with special needs to realise their dreams and achieve their full potential, which allows them to participate and contribute fully in the communities in which they live”, the Minister said.
The Praxis team works with each person through individualised programmes to promote social inclusion and maximise the person’s potential.
“Since becoming Minister, and indeed throughout my years working with people with disabilities, I have always encouraged people to define themselves not by their disabilities but by their abilities and it is heartening and encouraging to see Praxis Care, through their work of supporting and encouraging all who use the service, embody that ethos on a daily basis”, the Minister concluded.
