HMI President, Lucy Nugent opened the 6th Annual HMI Conference by welcoming HMI Members, guests, speakers and delegates. Maureen Browne presents a report of the 2016 HMI Annual Conference.
Senior health managers from all over the country packed the one day conference which was held in The Concert Hall in the RDS in Dublin, on September 29 with the theme “GETTING IT RIGHT – Making Better Choices.”
The President said it was with regret that the Minister for Health, Mr. Simon Harris could not be present, but she was delighted that Minister of State for Mental Health and Older People, Helen McEntee had come to open the conference.
“We are greatly anticipating a very productive day with plenty of fruitful discussion and debate. It is wonderful to see so many familiar faces here this morning. To those who are attending for a first time, a particular welcome. I hope you find this conference to be a valuable day of learning and development as we embrace, explore and reflect on the choices that we can make, about the use of technology, different approaches in healthcare delivery, and also thinking about how to build upon our own competencies. I strongly encourage you all to engage with our speakers and their thoughts.
At all times, we must keep our eye on ensuring that the decisions we make about care delivery and service improvements have the patient at the centre of our thoughts.
