Martina Larkin has been appointed as Sage Advocacy’s Legal Support Unit Lead.
Sage Advocacy is the national advocacy service for older people and also provides advocacy support to survivors of institutional abuse and other vulnerable adults and healthcare patients where no other service is available.
The demand for Sage Advocacy’s services has increased significantly since the commencement of the Assisted Decision- Making (Capacity) Acts in 2023 and Martina is delighted to be part of the organisation as it grows and develops, with thanks to its funders, to meet the needs of its clients.
Having previously worked as a solicitor, executive manager of Cheshire Ireland, Decision Support Service panel member and CEO of the Meath Foundation, she has a unique expertise and insight into the legal, health and social care sectors. Her commitment to the promotion of social justice and human rights aligns with the vision and mission of Sage Advocacy.
Martina believes that now, more than ever, there is a need to ensure that the rights of marginalised people are protected and upheld and looks forward to working with the organisation in doing this important work. Sage Advocacy CEO, Bibiana Savin, said, “I am delighted that Martina has joined Sage Advocacy. As our work linked to the Courts and complex case issues continues to grow, Martina, with her skillset and experience, will be instrumental in realising our strategic priority to ensure our advocates receive the robust, multi-faceted legal support they require.”
