Annual government funding for Barretstown is set to increase from €150,000 to €400,000.
A spokesperson said, “This is a strong endorsement of the work, with our services aligning to the objectives of the National Cancer Strategy to provide for the unmet psychosocial needs of children/teenagers experiencing cancer and other serious illnesses.
“Health Minister, Stephen Donnelly, paid his inaugural visit to Barretstown and we had an opportunity to share with him the impact that our therapeutic camps and programmes have on seriously ill children and their families. Government funding and donations underpin the delivery of our programmes, with all services to seriously ill children and families provided free of charge. We were delighted to learn that our funding from the Government has been increased to €400,000 per year.”
