A new 30 Bed Specialist Dementia Unit in Drogheda, Co. Louth has been completed.
Specialist Care Units are a model of long-term residential care designed for people with dementia. They are domestic purpose-built units, established to provide specialist long-term care to small groups of people with dementia who wish to live in a homely, personalised and safe environment.
The Drogheda unit is designed as three sectors each with ten households. Each sector has its own courtyard and secure external garden area and all are connected via one main spine corridor.
