The 2024 St. Vincent’s University Hospital Staff Recognition Awards celebrated the incredible contributions of hospital staff, acknowledged the individuals and teams who went above and beyond in delivering exceptional patient care and service.

Award winners were:
- Exceptional Patient Experience Award – Laura Kenny, Nursing, Older Persons Rapid Assessment Hub (OPRAH).
“Laura’s leadership and deep empathy ensure a positive environment for patients and colleagues & she always goes the extra mile to provide exceptional care.” - Clinical Area Innovation Award – Virtual Ward Team.
A trailblazer in acute care. “SVUH’s Virtual Ward, allows patients to receive safe, high-quality care from home with the aid of technology.” - Non-Clinical Innovation Award – ICU Team, Ireland’s Fittest ICU.
“By launching a nationwide challenge for ICU staff, this incredible team are fostering health & unity while improving well-being in a high-stress environment.” - Rising Star Award – Dr Alessandro Franciosi.
“Since joining SVUH in 2022, Dr Franciosi has led numerous initiatives in respiratory care, education and mentorship, positively impacting the department & hospital’s medical services.” - Coaching, Mentoring, Research, Education and Training Award – Imelda Noone, Nursing Theatre.
“A pioneer for Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Imelda’s mentoring has shaped stroke services and developed CNS and ANPs across Ireland.” - Excellence in Leadership Award – Eithne Thompson, Pathology.
“Eithne’s leadership has transformed the Histology Department, ensuring quality, supporting staff and boosting morale through her remarkable dedication.” - Best Team – Celebrating Commitment, Innovation and Inspirational Leadership – AMU Team.
“Handling high-pressure situations with skill and compassion, the AMU team delivers seamless patient care, consistently ensuring the best outcomes for acutely ill patients.” - Quality Improvement Award – NCIS Project Team.
“The team successfully introduced SVUH’s first Electronic Prescribing & Medication Administration system, streamlining workflows and ensuring patient safety in anticancer medicine administration.” - Unsung Hero Award – Idrissa Drame.
“A key figure in SVUH’s Emergency Department, Idrissa keeps everything running smoothly with a smile, ensuring the ED is always well-stocked & efficient.”
