The Mater Private Network has announced it is the first private hospital in Ireland to offer Video Capsule Endoscopy (VCE) — a non-invasive diagnostic tool designed to visualise the small bowel; the capsule takes thousands of pictures and transmits them to a recorder that you wear outside of your body.
This new diagnostic technique provides a comprehensive view, enabling consultants to detect and diagnose conditions with precision when standard upper and lower endoscopies have not provided a definitive diagnosis such as Crohn’s disease, coeliac disease and gastrointestinal bleeding.
