Health Minister, Stephen Donnelly has officially opened the Swan Ward in Naas General Hospital.
Capital funding of €6.5M had been allocated to this development to provide 12 additional single rooms for improved patient care and privacy. This development was highlighted as part of the Governments additional provision of beds in 2023.
In addition to this development, the hospital is also progressing plans to develop a new 11-bed Acute Medical Assessment Unit, a 15-bed Admissions Unit and a bed replacement plan identifying opportunities to replace current infrastructural challenging areas for improved patient care and access.
On the official opening of the new unit, Kieran McDonald, General Manager said, “We are delighted to welcome the Minister for Health to Naas . We appreciate the support and investment in the Hospital for the people of Kildare and its surrounds. The opening of the Swan Ward is one of a series of developments that we have planned for the Hospital to improve patient experience, patient flow and integration with our community partners and provide improved quality of care for our patients.”
Kate Killeen White, Regional Executive Officer of the HSE Dublin and Midlands said, “I’m pleased to be here at Naas General Hospital today, meeting the staff and sitting down with the management team to discuss the plans for upcoming developments in the Hospital. I look forward to working together to focus on enhancing patient care, upgrading facilities, and creating a better environment for both staff and visitors.”
