The Royal College of Physicians of Ireland’s Policy Group has urged that the legal age to buy tobacco should be raised from 18 to 21.
Professor Des Cox, Chair of the RCPI Policy Group on Tobacco, says this is an evidence-based solution that has been hugely successful in other countries, reducing smoking prevalence by up to 25% among young people
