Mr Keith Synnott has been appointed as National Clinical Lead for Trauma Services.
Mr. Synott is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital, Cappagh National Orthopaedic Hospital, the National Rehabilitation Hospital, the Mater Private Hospital and the Sports Surgery Clinic.
Health Minister, Simon Harris said the appointment of a National Clinical Lead for Trauma Services was one of the immediate actions prioritised in ‘A Trauma System for Ireland’ and would provide an essential foundation for the implementation of that system.
“As recommended in the Report, Mr Synnott will lead the National Office for Trauma Services in the HSE and will be responsible for managing the implementation and oversight of the trauma system. The implementation will support a reduction in the incidence and the burden of trauma, significantly improve the survival rate of major trauma patients and ensure every patient receives the best possible standard of care in the most appropriate facility.
“The implementation of the Trauma Strategy is a key deliverable of the Sláintecare Action Plan 2019 and I am delighted to see progress being made in this area.”
