Ginny Hanrahan has been re-appointed as CEO/Registrar of CORU for a further five years, following a full recruitment competition.
CORU regulates the health and social care professionals in Ireland.
“It has been my great honour to have commenced as CEO/Registrar of CORU ten years ago, starting from scratch, with my own laptop in a borrowed office,” she said.
“I have a great team in our Council members, registration board members and our executives as we now regulate nine professions – Social Workers, Radiographers, Radiation Therapists, Dietitians/Dieticians, Speech and Language Therapists/Speech Therapists, Optometrists, Dispensing Opticians, Occupational Therapists, and Physiotherapists/Physical Therapists.
“Our tenth register for Medical Scientists will hopefully be open before the end of the year – while continuing our ongoing work with two others – Psychologists and Social Care Workers.
“We await the appointment of the Podiatrists Registration Board. The other designated professions include Clinical Biochemists, Orthopists and from July 2, Counsellors and Psychotherapists.”
