Hospital Groups allocate over €4 bn for 2016

The eight new Hospital Groups have now established offices and management teams and for the first time disbursed their allocations for 2016 to their constituent hospitals.

The following are the details of their offices, management team and 2016 budgets.

Budget

The Ireland East Hospital Group received an allocation of €812m to deliver acute services through its eleven hospitals, which cover an approximate population of one million people. The Groups said that the allocation for 2016 reflects Government policy in moving from the traditional rollover allocation to an Activity Based Funding (ABF) model. The ABF model funds episodes of care in its acute services.

The UL Hospitals Group operates a Directorate Model structure and does not allocate budgets by site.  Budgets are allocated to each of the four directorates, namely: Medicine, Perioperative, Diagnostics and Maternal and Child Health who operate across multiple sites.
