Patients’ expectations were as high now as they had been during the Celtic Tiger period and managers needed to develop new and imaginative ways of managing resources to safeguard the quantum and quality of services, Ms. Breda Kavanagh, General Manager of South Tipperary General Hospital and Chair of HMI Southern Area Regional Committee, said when she opened the HMI South Forum in Cork.
“We also have had high expectations of the type of service we want to deliver and we have to manage our own expectations and challenge ourselves to find new and different ways of doing things,” she told the packed forum.
She said post Celtic Tiger, managers have to pay very serious attention to quality and risk management. There was a hospital licensing system on the way, which we must also take into account.
