This month, Irish Homecare proudly celebrated a major milestone—20 years of delivering compassionate, person-centred care to communities across Ireland. The occasion was marked with warmth, laughter, and a shared sense of pride as staff, clients, and valued partners gathered to reflect on the organisation’s journey and look ahead to the future.
The celebration also coincided with Irish HomeCare’s one-year anniversary as part of the Cpl Group—a partnership that has strengthened its mission and expanded its capacity to support those who rely on its services. The day was filled with joy, connection, and a renewed commitment to the values that have guided the organisation for two decades.
At the heart of Irish HomeCare is a simple but powerful vision: To transform the lives of our people through compassionate care and leadership. Earlier this year, Irish HomeCare became the first national health and social care organisation in Ireland to sign the Compassionate Leadership Pledge, committing to lead and care with empathy, integrity, and purpose.
“This pledge is not just symbolic—it’s a guiding principle that informs how we lead, how we support our teams, and how we care for our clients,” said Teresa McNally, CEO of Irish HomeCare. “It’s about creating a culture where people feel safe, respected, and empowered to bring their whole selves to work.”
Compassionate leadership, she explained, is not just about kindness—it’s about intentionality. It means listening deeply, responding thoughtfully, and creating the conditions for high-quality, effective teamwork. It also means fostering psychological safety, where every voice is heard and every person feels valued.
None of this would be possible without the extraordinary individuals who make up Irish HomeCare. From carers to support staff and managers, each person plays a vital role in the organisation’s mission.
The celebration event was held at the Knightsbrook Hotel in Co. Meath and welcomed over 300 people from across Ireland. During the event, Teresa McNally shared heartfelt words of appreciation for everyone who has contributed to Irish HomeCare’s journey:
“To our incredible carers—you are the heart of this company. Thank you for being our quiet heroes.”
“To our managers and office staff—your tireless work behind the scenes keeps everything running smoothly. You are the glue that holds us together, and your dedication ensures that our clients receive the highest standard of care.”
“To our clients and their families—thank you for trusting us. Thank you for welcoming us into your homes and your lives. Your stories inspire us, and your resilience reminds us why we do what we do.”
“To our partners, supporters, and communities—thank you for walking this journey with us. Your belief in our mission has helped us grow, innovate, and reach more people than we ever imagined.”
On the day, emotions ran high as several clients receiving care from Irish HomeCare shared deeply personal stories that beautifully illustrated the life-changing impact of compassionate care One particularly moving account came from a client who described how Irish HomeCare supported him in caring for his wife at home during her final days. He recalled how a carer held his hand as he held his wife’s, offering comfort and strength in a moment of profound loss. Now receiving care himself from the same team who once cared for his wife, he spoke with heartfelt gratitude, saying, “My carers are my family. I watch the clock every day, waiting to see them.”
As Irish HomeCare celebrates this special milestone, it also looks forward—with clarity, ambition, and excitement.
“Our vision for the future is rooted in the same values that brought us here,” McNally said, “but it’s also shaped by the evolving needs of our clients and the changing landscape of healthcare. In the years ahead, we aim to:
- Expand our reach to serve more communities and broaden the services we offer.
- Strengthen our workforce through ongoing training, support, and recognition—because when we care for our carers and staff, they can better care for others.
- Continue building partnerships with healthcare providers, local organisations, and policymakers to advocate for the future of homecare and ensure seamless access to excellent care for those who need it.
- And most importantly, we will continue to listen—to our clients, our staff, and our communities—so that we remain responsive, compassionate, and committed to excellence.”
Irish HomeCare’s 20-year celebration was not just a look back—it was a reaffirmation of its values and a promise to continue leading with compassion, purpose, and integrity.
