Seven out of every 10 respondents rated their experience in Tallaght University Hospital as “good” to “very good,” in the hospital’s 2025 National Inpatient Experience Survey (NIES).

The survey, which includes 52 questions covering all aspects of inpatient care, saw a 41% response rate from patients – matching the national average.

Notably, the highest engagement came from patients aged 66 to 80, reflecting strong participation from the older community.

A hospital spokesperson said, “The results are encouraging – seven out of every 10 respondents rated their experience in our Hospital as “good” to “very good.” This feedback highlights the dedication of our staff and the quality of care delivered across departments. While we celebrate the positive results, we remain committed to continuous  improvement. Every patient voice matters, and the survey responses will help guide enhancements in communication, comfort, and overall patient support.

“The highest-scoring questions at TUH related to patients feeling that they were treated with respect ‘Discharge or transfer’ was the state of care with the lowest score, though this score had improved significantly since the survey was last undertaken in 2022.

“Areas for improvement related to hospital food, pain management and privacy for patients when discussing conditions or treatment ‘Examinations, diagnosis & treatment’ was the stage of care with the highest score.”
