Thirty per cent of Irish Voluntary Hospital Leaders are more optimistic about the future of Irish healthcare than a year ago, when the figure was just 4% in 2024.
This emerged from the Irish Voluntary Healthcare Association Pulse Survey 2025 results, which includes findings from a survey of the Chairs and CEOs representing 20 voluntary healthcare institutions in Ireland.
Seventy eight per cent of respondents cited underfunding as the most significant challenge, ahead of pressures from an ageing population (52%) and growing demand for services (48%).
Leaders supported key Programme for Government (PfG) targets, including increasing emergency medicine consultants (61%).
